Calling all local artists!  

Our Artists Work in Libraries commission is back for 2026/27 following an extension of funding by Arts Council England which recognises the London Borough of Merton as a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO). 

We are looking to commission artists to build on our extensive culture and creativity offer for all our residents and visitors aged 16+, delivered via the library service. 

All welcome to apply and all artistic disciplines considered but priority will be given to those who:  

• Have demonstrable experience in engaging audiences with their artistic practices 

• Are a first-time applicant and/or bring unique event/project ideas 

• Are keen to focus their work in the east of the borough (particularly Mitcham and Pollards Hill)    

• Promote environmental responsibility and inclusivity in their proposed activities 

Estimate Value: Up to £5,000 per commission   

Applications Open: Monday 1st September 2025 

Applications Deadline: Tuesday 30th September 2025, 12pm  

Notification of Decision: Friday 28th November 2025 

Programming Dates: April 2026 – March 2027
