Summer Reading Challenge 2023
Saturday 8 July - Saturday 9 September
The Summer Reading Challenge is an annual event aimed at 4 – 11 year olds. Children are encouraged to read six (or more) books of their choice during the summer holidays.
Volunteers needed!
Merton libraries are looking for volunteers to help keep children reading throughout the summer holidays for the Summer Reading Challenge.
The theme for this year’s challenge is ‘Ready, Set, Read!’
We are looking for volunteers aged 14+ to help library staff sign children up to the Summer Reading Challenge and talk to children about their books, encouraging them to complete the challenge.
We can be flexible with the time and dates volunteers can commit to this role but, we require a commitment of at least 2 hours per week or a total of 14 hours throughout the summer.
Applications are now open and will close on Friday 30 June. Please read the Summer Reading Challenge volunteer role description.
