The Template Will Sway

by Andrew Mottershead

The Template Will Sway was a library art installation from January to March 2025.

This was suspended in the atrium of the heritage and local studies floor at Morden Library, visible from below. Viewers could 'just look up' to see the installation, celebrating libraries as places to play with ideas. A sculptural presence inviting the public to slow down and be sparked by curiosity, leaving an openness for interpretation and different viewpoints of what is experienced.

The artwork also came with two workshops. Participants had the opportunity to join artist Andrew Mottershead in creating artworks by cutting out letters from their favourite words of wisdom. Finished pieces were displayed on lines crisscrossing a designated area of the library as part of a collective installation.
