Description:
We're thrilled to welcome post-punk band the Swell Maps and renowned British fashion photographer and film director Willie Christie.
Swell Maps were an English experimental DIY, early punk and post-punk rock group active between 1972 and 1980. Influenced by bands such as T. Rex and German krautrock groups such as Can and Faust, they went on to be influential to many bands who defined the next quarter of a century of alternative music. Their influence is remarkable with Dinosaur Jr., R.E.M., Sonic Youth, Nirvana and Pavement all sighting them as a major influences on their music.
The band has reconvened as Swell Maps C21 over the last few years under the leadership of original member Jowe Head. Playing with Jowe on this show will be Dave Callahan, Jeff Bloom, Chloe Herrington and Lee McFadden. Expect a career spanning set with new surprises throw in, this is an event not to be missed!
