Discover more about the fascinating life of this colourful character, from his role with the Indian Civil Service, to his work as a London journalist, reformer, campaigner and Wimbledon philanthropist. This illustrated talk by Michael Norman-Smith of Merton U3A will look at Evans' surprising background and the change of direction that led him to serve the interests of the Wimbledon Community for several decades. This talk is part of the 2024 Merton Heritage Discovery Day programme and is suitable for adults and older children. It will take place in the Merton Council Chamber, accessible from the Merton Civic Centre foyer by lift or stairs. Booking is required but we will accept walk-ins on the day, subject to available space.
