Library volunteer roles
Core roles at library branches
We have a number of roles to suit different skill sets, including:
Mitcham Digital Makerspace volunteers
Would you like to support our library users to develop their skills in digital making, learning and creating? Makerspaces promote STEAM learning and you would be helping in running activities such as 3D design and print, Virtual Reality, Lego Education and code clubs.
To volunteer with us for this role you will need to be:
• Friendly and approachable.
• Able to communicate with learners of all ages to share knowledge and skills.
• Patient and understanding, having the ability to motivate and encourage others.
• Enthusiastic about digital making and have an interest in new technology and equipment, or skills such as 3D printing, Virtual Reality, and coding.
Sensory library volunteers
Our seven libraries have sensory themed areas for all children, with additional services being provided for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) children. We are looking for volunteers to help run our new storytimes and activity sessions in our sensory libraries.
