Capoeira

Capoeira workshops took place across all Merton libraries between October to November 2023. 

 

The workshops brought the experience of the popular Afro-Brazilian martial art which combines dance, acrobatics, music, games and the Brazilian-Portuguese language and culture to Merton communities.

Arte Pura is a Merton-based organisation providing Capoeira classes and workshops for everyone. They have also published their first bilingual book ‘My first Capoeira class’ in English and Portuguese which they describe as an interactive introduction to the fundamentals of Capoeira.
