Special Needs and Disabilities

Merton's Sensory Libraries 

Welcome to our new dedicated section for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

In May 2019, Merton Library and Heritage Service successfully won £94,826 of funding from Arts Council England for Project Sense.

All of our children’s libraries now have a unique theme (see below) with sensory equipment and specialist SEND book stock, specially adapted toys and equipment that can be borrowed.

  • Wimbledon Library: Jungle

In addition to our new facilities, we have a programme of SEND events and activities as well as specialist training and social events for parents and carers. All of our staff have received specialist SEND training and we will shortly be training all of our volunteers.
